Senior Data Engineer | Early Stage Hedge Fund

Salary: Up to £150,000 plus an exceptional benefits package
Location: London, Hybrid (2 days per week onsite)

They’re building a modern, impact-conscious investment platform – one that emphasises long-term value creation not just for investors, but for companies and communities too.

The fund’s approach combines high-performance investing with a deep focus on social and environmental risk factors, helping to reduce volatility, lower costs, and generate sustainable alpha across their portfolio. They are now looking for an outstanding Senior Data Engineer to join the founding tech team and help build a world-class data platform from the ground up. This is a rare chance to join a hedge fund at day one – designing and implementing the infrastructure that powers everything from alpha research to real-time trading.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines for batch and real-time data
• Integrate a variety of market and alternative data sources into a unified architecture
• Develop analytics layers and data models that support quantitative research and trading
• Work hands-on with Python, SQL, and platforms like Snowflake or Databricks
• Operate in a cloud-native environment (AWS/Azure), leveraging modern infrastructure tools

Required Experience:

• 4+ years of experience in a data engineering or backend data-heavy role
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
• Experience working with real-time data processing tools (e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming)
• Familiarity with modern data platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, or equivalent
• Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure) and deployment best practices
• Bonus: Any experience with financial or market data is a plus
