Everyone at Formula Recruitment is thrilled to announce the unveiling of solar panels on the roof of our Cornwall office, in St. Ives. Since the construction of the brand new headquarters in 2022, the long-term vision for the building always intended the addition of solar panels. Sustainability and energy efficiency are core values for our business, and installing solar panels aligns perfectly with these goals. With the introduction of the government-backed grant, through the experts at Cornwall & Isle of Scilly Growth Hub: Net Zero Funding, this vision has been able to be realised even sooner than we had forecasted!

The Project

Operations Manager, Sally Morrison has been integral to the project, from completing the application for the government backed grant, to organising the strategic operation.

She explains why we’ve chosen to go solar and the impact this will have on the business, “The Cornwall & Isle of Scilly Growth Hub fund, which has been backed by the government to encourage more businesses to embrace a sustainable future, has made this the perfect time to make the leap. By transitioning to solar energy, we will reduce our reliance on traditional power sources and improve our environmental impact on the planet.

From the financial aspect, this not only saves us money in the long run but also provides greater energy security. With solar panels in place, we can lower our operating costs by generating our own power, making our business more resilient and profitable. More importantly, though, going solar significantly reduces our carbon footprint.  By taking this step, we’re not only investing in the future of our company but also contributing to a more sustainable world.”

The Benefits

The project was conducted by GreenGenUK, who fitted the solar panels in just two days.

“The solar PV installation at Formula Recruitment is projected to generate 21,265.3 kWh of clean energy annually. This renewable energy output will significantly reduce the company’s reliance on external electricity sources, contributing to lower energy costs and greater energy independence. In terms of environmental impact, the system is estimated to save approximately 4.07 tonnes of CO2 each year, helping Formula Recruitment to meet its sustainability targets and reduce its carbon footprint.”

There’s more information about the project and company on their website, GreenGenUK.

A Greener Future

Finally, Formula’s Founder & CEO, Jack Bainger, shares his excitement for the greener future of the company, “The solar installation coupled with our Tesla energy storage unit is a significant step forward in our net zero strategy. We are now operating wholly from the energy that we create and storing the surplus.

It’s easy to overlook the severity of the situation until you start educating yourself about the challenges we face. The more you learn, the more you realise how important it is to do your bit and take action. We must all commit to becoming more informed and making a difference so we safeguard the planet for future generations to come. We’re not stopping at solar, we’re planning rainwater harvesting and much more to follow in the coming months…!”

The installation of solar panels is such a huge milestone for our business, and rightly so, we have about 100 pictures to mark the occasion (thanks to the GreenGenUK team!), here are a few of the favourites:
