Head of Engineering

An exciting FinTech Start-up who are radically challenging the way we approach saving, spending and exchanging money on a global scale are seeking a Head of Engineering to join their London based team. As they gear up to scale the product internationally, they are looking for a Head of Engineering to guide the team of engineers responsible for developing, improving and enhancing their platform based on a highly scalable and secure microservices architecture.

The ideal Head of Engineering will be an inspiring leader and be accustomed to setting up Agile and TDD/BDD driven methodologies that can establish the right environment for the development teams to continuously innovative their platforms in the right way. It is also vital that the Head of Engineering can establish a progressive culture, from effective recruitment of Engineers to driving the architectural design and roadmap with both high technological standards and a collaborative approach with the team and the business.

This is a technically orientated role in which you will be responsible for shaping the architecture of the platform, setting design principles and taking accountability for the technology strategy to enable a scalable and user focussed product.

Key responsibilities as Head of Engineering:

• Driving the architecture towards a cloud first strategy with modern event-driven architecture.
• Leading the design and implementation of distributed systems.
• Experience understanding requirements from a Product and Business perspective to translate into a tangible engineering roadmap.
• Responsible for overseeing the successful delivery across Web, Mobile and Native.
• Advocating modern engineering best practice throughout the team.

Desired Skills:

• Come from a software engineering background
• Architecture and system design
• Experience scaling engineering capabilities.
• Effective team management.
• Current stack is Python or Golang orientated with JS on the frontend, but not essential.
• TDD/BDD
