A mission-driven start-up, transforming the future of long-term private healthcare, are looking for a Founding Backend Engineer to specialise on their Backend using Python. They are building a smart, more efficient way for GP practices to manage care, scheduling and workflows – replacing outdated spreadsheets with a powerful, data-rich SaaS platform.

As the Founding Backend Engineer, you will work directly with the founding team and CTO to play a pivotal role in enhancing and developing their current SaaS-based platform, taking ownership of Back-end technologies and demonstrating technical versatility. You will make a clear impact on current and future development within the platform, with multiple greenfield features and tools already on the roadmap.

As a Founding Backend Engineer, you will have the following:

  • 5+ years of Python experience, building API-powered solutions
  • Good understanding of microservice architecture
  • Experience with common Python frameworks, including Django
  • Experience using Auth0 for authentication
  • Experience with client-server architecture using REST and GraphQL protocols
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining scalable RESTful APIs using FastAPI, with a strong focus on performance, asynchronous programming, and clean architecture
  • Good knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (DynamoDB, PostgreSQL)
  • Experience building, testing, and deploying applications on AWS, with infrastructure managed via Terraform
