Director of Engineering

We are currently working with a UK based, global entertainment business who are seeking an innovative Director of Engineering to implement technology and operational enhancements to their commerce and digital platforms.

The company is undergoing a large digital transformation to radically revamp their online and in-person experiences. As a Director of Engineering, you’ll join a newly formed digital hub with significant funding and form a key part of the senior leadership team, reporting directly to the CTO in a role with significant scale.

You’ll be responsible for leading cross-functional teams consisting of Platform Managers, Engineers and Solution Architects to design and deliver innovative solutions that improve their customer’s experience.

As the Director of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in defining and driving the strategic direction of their commerce solutions and the seamless integration across their digital estate, fostering progressive and positive cultures whilst implementing agile and engineering best practice across the function.

As a Director of Engineering, your responsibilities will include:

• Defining the strategic direction for Engineering and aligning technology with the business’s digital goals.
• Oversee the architectural design and development of commerce platforms ensuring the delivery of scalable and durable solutions fit for business.
• Leading Cross functional teams and driving positive and collaborative environments.
• Fostering strong working relationships with external vendors and third party suppliers ensuring the solutions meet the operational needs.
• Working alongside various technical and business stakeholders to prioritise business critical initiatives across commerce and digital platforms.

As a Director of Engineering, you should have:

• Track record delivering architectural and technology portfolios and programmes at global scale.
• Demonstrable experience delivering commerce and digital solution to elevate customer experience and business operations.
• A solid understanding of modern commerce technologies and cloud platforms, API’s along with established modular and microservices architecture knowledge.
• Experience with various methodologies and best practices including agile & DevOps best practices.
• Experience collaborating between the Engineering & Product Delivery teams.

Package on offer:

• Salary: Up to £220,000 + bonus up to 35%
• Location: Central London – 2/3 days per week
