Location: Hybrid with weekly visits to one of the UK offices

A global entertainment powerhouse are seeking an experienced and driven Head of Data Science to join a brand new team dedicated to a fundamental reshaping of their approach to the millions of active daily users. They are looking for someone who has experience working with enterprise level models, and leading talented architects and engineers to drive business ambition through data science.

As Head of Data Science, you will be responsible for leading the community of Data Scientists working within multifunctional product teams across the organisation. You will be responsible for the value delivery of AI and machine learning capabilities, embedding a data-driven outcome-focused culture across the wider organisation, and working in collaboration with leadership, across the Data function, to influence and implement an industry-leading data and ML strategy.

Reporting to the Director of Product Data, you will:

• Use strategic leadership to develop and execute a data science strategy aligned with their organisational goals, driving innovation and excellence in data analytics.
• Be responsible for recruiting, coaching and progressing the careers of a talented and diverse team of data scientists within the company.
• Grow and enable diverse teams, fostering an inclusive environment to ensure all individuals can be their authentic self and contribute at their best.
• Be a passionate advocate for the responsible use of AI and ML, jointly responsible for embedding best practices in the workflows of data teams across the wider business.
• Implement cutting-edge data science techniques to extract valuable insights, guide editorial decisions, and enhance audience engagement.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Significant experience of managing a team and hiring and retaining data scientists in a competitive market.
• Experience in overcoming the hurdles required to get solutions involving data science into production, with a proven track record of delivering significant value to users or audiences.
• Demonstrate evidence of a highly collaborative approach, able to inspire and enable data scientists to work effectively with other disciplines in a digital product organisation.
• The technical knowledge to guide teams and assess the feasibility and suitability of proposed solutions. You will demonstrate the ability to delegate and allow teams autonomy to deliver.
