Lead Data Scientist

Up to £120,000 + benefits | Hybrid | London, UK

We’re working with a growing UK professional services group that has already rolled out Copilot, Claude and a range of specialist AI tools across the business. Adoption has been uneven, and it now wants to make that investment count by finding where AI genuinely improves how its people work.

The Lead Data Scientist will be the first data science hire. You’ll set the direction and own the approach, and you’ll be hands-on from day one.

Responsibilities as a Lead Data Scientist:

• Work with a business analyst on the first mapped workflows, identify where LLMs can make a measurable difference, and design experiments to test them
• Take the strongest results into production, with evaluation and monitoring around them
• Build the framework the business uses to measure its AI, which will be closely scrutinised at board level
• Work closely with engineering and an incoming data team, and become a trusted voice with senior stakeholders

Requirements:

• Around 5 to 7 years in data science, at Senior or Lead level, or doing the job without the title
• Hands-on experience applying LLMs to unstructured data, including RAG and prompt design
• Experience with LLM evaluation and monitoring. Langfuse, LangSmith or similar is a big plus
• A track record of getting work into production and keeping it there

• Up to £120,000 base salary
