Senior Data Engineer

Senior Data Engineer: Contract | Up to £550/day outside IR35 | Hybrid, London | 6 months initial

A major consumer goods business is seeking a contract Senior Data Engineer. The programme is consolidating a fragmented estate and standardising how things are done across the group. It's early days, the team is lean and the structure is still being shaped.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'd be building the pipelines and data infrastructure that underpin the wider transformation, taking data from disparate legacy systems across the group and getting it into a shared, reliable platform.

There's a genuine green-field element here: patterns and standards are still being established, and you'll have real influence over how the platform evolves.

As a contract Senior Data Engineer you'll be competent in:

• Designing and building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Working with modern data stack tooling (e.g. dbt, Airflow, Databricks, Snowflake)
• Consolidating data from multiple, inconsistent source systems into a coherent model
• Working autonomously in an unstructured environment with limited process in place
• Communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience working within a retail/consumer business is an excellent advantage.
